HOW WERE FLAMING HOT CHEETOS INVENTED?
How was the flamin’ hot flavor invented? A humble janitor by the name of Richard Montanez who worked at Frito-Lay got inspired one day. He noticed a batch of unseasoned Cheetos coming out of a machine and it got him thinking. Up until that point, there were no spicy flavored Cheetos, so he went home and started experimenting with seasonings such as chili powder on some of those plain Cheetos. Shortly after that, Richard got in touch with the CEO and was asked to present his creation. The CEO was impressed and these spicy snacks were launched in 1992. Ever since then, flamin’ hot Cheetos have been a huge hit for many snack lovers.
From burritos to street corn, flamin’ hot Cheetos recipes are paving the way for a new kind of spicy flavor. Lets look at some recipes for the flaming hot cheeto mexican foods including cheeto burrito, cheeto tacos, cheeto tortillas, and more!
#1 THE FLAMING HOT CHEETO BURRITO:
The popular Tasty videos have made their own recipe called the flaming hot Cheeto burrito. They take cut flank steak and marinate it in lime juice, salt, and taco seasoning for half an hour.
After that, they cook the steak in some oil for about 20 minutes. Next, warm up a flour tortilla and add half of the cooked meat with some fresh guacamole, sour cream, 8 ounces of flamin’ hot Cheetos, and melted cheddar cheese. Roll it up like a burrito and you have a simple meal to please your taste buds. Does this not sound delicious? The spicy Cheetos add good texture as well as spicy flavor to any burrito. You can cook different meats like chicken for your burrito if you don’t have flank steak. The flavor combinations are limitless!
ALTERNATE - FLAMING HOT CHEETO FRENCH FRIES: Don’t feel like making a whole burrito, you can try this low cal (psyche) version that has all the same ingredients piled on top of cheesy fries! Our favorite is to do the same with tater tots straight out of the air fryer. Tasty’s flaming hot Cheeto fries recipe here.
#2 FLAMING HOT CHEETO TORTILLA
Flour tortillas are often used for the crowd-pleasing tacos as well. Have you ever heard about flamin’ hot Cheeto Mexican style tortillas? This recipe gives you a clever way to implement hot Cheetos without having to stuff them inside or on top of a dish. Homemade flour tortillas are the best, but these spicy tortillas step it up a notch. All you’ll need to make this recipe is all-purpose flour, warm water, blended hot Cheetos, shortening, salt, and red food coloring for that extra red color. #3 FLAMING HOT CHEETO STREET CORN
How to make hot Cheetos elote or street corn? it just takes 4 easy steps! After removing the husk and silk from your corn cobs, mix mayo, sour cream, garlic powder, and chili powder in a bowl and set aside. This will act as the glue to add your finely ground flamin’ hot Cheetos layer. Use a food processor to get the Cheetos to a breadcrumb consistency, then place it in a large enough bowl or plate to fit the length of the corn cobs. After heating up a grill, brush the corn with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. When cooking, rotate the corn several times so that all the sides get evenly cooked. Cool the corn slightly before brushing on your mayo and sour cream mix and getting that hot Cheeto goodness coated all over it. It turns out to be pretty messy, but who doesn’t love grilled corn on the cob? You can find the full recipe here.
